Set identifies the release
The same character can appear in many products over many years. The set name or set code narrows the card to a specific release and helps separate similar versions.
Card number identifies the exact slot
Card numbers are especially useful when names repeat or artwork looks similar. Searching the card name plus number is often the quickest way to find accurate comparisons.
Rarity describes the version
Rarity labels help distinguish standard printings from harder-to-pull or differently finished versions. Rarity can influence demand, but it is not the only factor that determines price.
Language creates a different market
English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and other-language cards can have different availability and buyer demand. Compare a card against sales in the same language whenever possible.
Edition and condition complete the picture
